Korean Honey Citron Tea Recipe

Traditional Korean tea made with honey and citron, served hot or iced - a soothing, vitamin-rich beverage perfect for any season.

Ingredients

For Hot Tea:

  • 2-3 tbsp Korean honey citron tea paste (yuja-cha)
  • 200ml hot water (not boiling)
  • Extra honey to taste (optional)
  • Fresh citron or lemon slices for garnish

For Iced Tea:

  • 2-3 tbsp Korean honey citron tea paste
  • 100ml hot water
  • 100ml cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

To Make Your Own Paste:

  • 2 large citrons or yuzu
  • 200g honey
  • 100g sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

For Hot Tea:

  1. Place 2-3 tablespoons of honey citron paste in a mug.
  2. Add hot water (around 80°C/175°F - not boiling).
  3. Stir well until paste is completely dissolved.
  4. Taste and add more honey if desired.
  5. Garnish with fresh citron slices and serve hot.

For Iced Tea:

  1. Dissolve paste in hot water first, then add cold water.
  2. Fill glass with ice cubes.
  3. Pour the tea over ice and stir.
  4. Garnish with mint leaves and citron slices.

To Make Homemade Paste:

  1. Wash citrons thoroughly and slice thinly.
  2. Remove seeds and mix with salt, let sit 30 minutes.
  3. Rinse and drain well.
  4. Mix with honey and sugar, store in refrigerator.
  5. Use after 1 week for best flavor development.
