Korean Dalgona Coffee Recipe

Whipped coffee foam over cold milk - the viral Korean coffee sensation that took the world by storm with its creamy, cloud-like texture.

Ingredients

For the Dalgona Foam:

  • 2 tbsp instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp hot water

For Serving:

  • 400ml cold milk
  • Ice cubes
  • Cocoa powder for dusting (optional)
  • Cinnamon powder (optional)

Instructions

Make the Dalgona Foam:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine instant coffee, sugar, and hot water.
  2. Using a hand whisk or electric mixer, whip vigorously for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Continue whipping until the mixture becomes thick, creamy, and light brown.
  4. The foam should hold stiff peaks when lifted with the whisk.

Assemble and Serve:

  1. Fill two glasses with ice cubes.
  2. Pour cold milk into each glass, leaving room at the top.
  3. Spoon the dalgona foam generously on top of the milk.
  4. Dust with cocoa powder or cinnamon if desired.
  5. Serve immediately with a spoon to mix the foam into the milk.

Dalgona Coffee Secrets

Perfect Foam

The key is patience - whip for at least 3-5 minutes until the mixture is thick and holds peaks. An electric mixer makes this much easier!

Coffee Quality

Use good quality instant coffee for the best flavor. Freeze-dried instant coffee works better than spray-dried.

Serving Style

Mix the foam into the milk before drinking, or enjoy the contrast of bitter foam and sweet milk in layers.
